Uses

How to Use?
- Take orally with food
- Follow physician’s dosage instructions
- Regular monitoring is necessary during treatment
Dosage
25–50 mg orally once daily with the main meal; dosage individualized by physician based on disease severity and response; treatment duration typically 3–6 months under strict medical supervision
Safety Advice
- Use broad-spectrum sunscreen SPF 50+ as acitretin increases photosensitivity
- Avoid alcohol consumption as it may convert acitretin to etretinate, prolonging teratogenic risk
- Do not drive or operate machinery if experiencing visual disturbances
- Inform your doctor immediately if you experience severe headache, vision changes, or abdominal pain
- Strictly follow pregnancy prevention program as prescribed by your dermatologist
Precautions
- Absolutely contraindicated in pregnancy and women of childbearing potential not using reliable contraception
- Women must use two effective forms of contraception for at least 1 month before, during, and for 3 years after treatment
- Contraindicated in severe hepatic or renal impairment
- Contraindicated in patients with hyperlipidemia unresponsive to treatment
- Do not donate blood during treatment and for 3 years after discontinuation
- Avoid concurrent use with methotrexate or tetracyclines
- Regular monitoring of liver function tests and serum lipids required
- Avoid vitamin A supplements and other retinoids during treatment
